Is Your Car Running Slower This Week

If your vehicle has been running a little slower than you wanted it to here lately, you may want to take it to the muffler shop.

When a catalytic converter starts getting clogged it cuts down on the exhaust.

When that happens, you have to push a little harder on the accelerator.

Then it gets to the point that the harder you push the slower it goes.

Then you think: “Wow! What a gas guzzler!”

What gives?

The converter stops up inside and the exhaust has no place to go, except backwardswell, actually it goes forward, back into the engine.

If you have a carburetor on your vehicle it can blow out there through the intake valves.

Not good.

Ever seen a movie where someone didn’t want someone else to drive off, so they put a potato inside the exhaust tail-pipe?

The engine will not start!

That is exactly what happens when the converter stops up
inside the converter, it starts to rust up, then deteriorate, and eventually crumble and fall into the exhaust stream, stopping the flow of exhaust going out the tail pipe.

You may run it for a short time, but after awhile it will stop completely and the engine will not startup a’tall.

Get a new one put on, don’t try to “eliminate” it; there are big-time laws against it, especially here, in the USA, and, it carries a very large fine! :-(

I doubt if you would be able to find a reputable repair shop that would do that kind of work for youI know the muffler shops won’t. Johnny Law keeps an eye on them.

Tommy Sessions has been in auto repair since 1970. He publishes Auto Repair Answers Newsletter so you can learn how to keep your vehicle looking new, running safely and efficiently, while you save money and time…also, learn how to avoid shop rip offs. The Man With The “Grasshopper Mind”

The title of this article also happens to be one of the “20 Greatest Headlines Ever Written.”

Did you know, just changing the headline has been known to dramatically improve the effectiveness of an ad or sales letter by up to 1700 percent? Yes, headlines are that powerful–and that important!

However, over the last few years, I’ve noticed a proliferation of badly written–or just plain weak headlines–both online and off!

Particularly disturbing is the copycat syndrome. I can’t even begin to tell you how many variations I’ve seen of the “Who Else” headline. For example:

“Who Else Wants To Write Great Headlines?”

By the way, the “Who Else” headline isn’t new. It goes back many decades.

Here’s the problem with copying a popular headline. When you have so many individuals copying a headline, it loses its effectiveness, appeal and uniqueness very quickly–especially on the Internet!

I have a much better alternative. Instead of copying someone else’s headline, put in the hard work that’s required and come up with your own classic headline.

Headlines that evoke some type of emotional response are the most effective and generally make more sales. Emotions motivate people into action. The stronger the emotion, the quicker the action. Therefore, headlines that make the reader excited about gaining something–or even more effective–afraid of losing something, will invariably produce the best results.

Using the proper words and phrases is critical. Below I’ve listed just a few of the words and phrases that, over the years, have proven to be very effective at grabbing the readers attention:

Save… Amazing… Finally… Love… Secrets Of… Announcing… Free… Luxury… Security… At Last… New… Bargains… Obsession… Breakthrough… Protect… The Truth About… Discover… How To… Rewards… Yes… Sale… You… Are You… Sex… Win… Improve… Do You…

After grabbing your readers attention, this is where you want to answer the question, “What’s in it for me?” To do this, you have to know a little about your target audience. What are they interested in? What are their priorities? What makes them respond?

Craft your headlines to use words and phrases that will pique your potential buyers interest. If you are targeting people interested in starting their own home business, try phrases such as “Stay Home And Make Money” or “Kiss Your Job Goodbye Forever”. If your product happens to be diet pills, try “Lose 10 Pounds In 10 Days”.

A word of caution: There is a point where headlines tend to get unbelievable. Make sure that your claims are truthful and that your copy supports their truthfulness.

Once you have a firm grasp of the aforementioned basics, look around your house and select several different products, and write as many headlines as you can think of for each product.

Write variations of the same headline until you have exhausted all the ideas you can think of. This will be both frustrating and difficult at first, but it will become easier with practice. Remember, nothing worthwhile ever comes easy.

After you have your list of headlines, make sure each one passes the test for the following criteria for a good headline. 1. Does it grab the readers attention? 2. Does it answer the question, “What’s in it for me?” 3. Is it truthful? If a potential headline does not meet these three criteria, rewrite it or eliminate it from your list altogether.

Continue using the process of elimination, one headline at a time, until you’re left with what you feel are the three best and strongest headlines, based on the criteria presented in this article.

How will you know which headline is the best one overall?

Unfortunately, there’s no way to know for sure until you test them against each other. The headline that pulls the most sales or responses is your winner!

To help you get the creative juices flowing, I’ve listed below my version of “The 20 Greatest Headlines Ever Written,”. I’ve listed them in my own personal order of preference. Study them, dissect them, figure out what makes them great–then get to work writing your own. Enjoy!

How to Save Money on Your Car

There are many expenses that come with owning a car. How can you save money?

Often, saving money starts right at the beginning — with the purchase. If you are looking to buy a new car, you might consider going small. Generally, the smaller the car, the cheaper it is. Plus, smaller cars usually get better gas mileage.

The cheaper the vehicle, the cheaper the insurance premiums. You should pick out several different vehicles and then ask your agent for quotes on them. This way, there are no surprises after the deal is done.

Did you know that automatic transmissions get five miles per gallon less than manual transmission vehicles? If you know how to drive a stick, it might just save you some money. Six-cylinder engines get five miles per gallon less than four-cylinder engines. Consider all of the options when purchasing.

You can save money by keeping your car a little longer. Don’t simply trade in for a new vehicle every two to three years. You lose money through low trade-in values. If you plan on getting a new car, why not try to sell your current one as a private sale. You can get what the dealer would out of it, giving you money for a downpayment on the new vehicle.

Many dealers will try to push extras on you like credit life or disability insurance, service contracts, extended warranties and gap insurance. Your regular life, disability and gap insurance (through your auto policy) should protect you just fine. There is no point in being double-covered. You are paying twice, but you will only be paid back once. The extended warranties usually aren’t worth what you are being charged. They are often very limited and are available directly from providers at a fraction of the dealer cost.

Once you have your car, you should make sure that you are fanatical about keeping up on maintenance. A poorly tuned car will use almost 33% more gasoline each year. By changing the oil and oil filter every 3,000 miles, you are extending the life of your vehicle’s engine. Make sure that the air filter is clean to get the best possible gas mileage. Also make sure that your tires are filled to the appropriate psi.

You shouldn’t use a higher octane gasoline than recommended in your owner’s manual. Most cars don’t need high-octane gas, so it is simply a waste to your vehicle. Check your manual for the correct octane level for your vehicle.

When filling the gas tank, don’t top it off. When it is hot out, gas expands and it will simply run off. You are paying for what you are never using.

It isn’t hard to find ways to save money on vehicle expenses. The number one way is to drive less. Consider carpooling or walking. Park in one central location when running errands and walk from place to place. This not only saves gas, but gives a good work out.
